Perfectly placed for teaming with a gig at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, this popular (and surprisingly expansive) upstairs restaurant offers up the best of Japanese fast food… fast.
The modern design cleverly features an abundance of nooks, crannies and booths, insulating you (and your personal touch-screen menu) from the worst aspects of bustling popularity.
They queue for pairs of grilled Scampi ($7.30) on sticks, followed by duos of Crystal Bay Prawns ($6.80).
It’s the perfect sort of food to be waving around with a drink in your other hand. If their sake based Wagaya Cocktail ($8.90) is too blue, try the grapefruit and grenadine enriched Nadeshiko ($8.90) instead.
After duly noting the stern touch-screen warnings about the consequences of drunken and disorderly behaviour, I bury my nose in the best drunk food I’ve had in ages – a creamy, cheesy griddle of Takoyaki Gratin ($7.30).
After throwing in some fishes with a Rainbow Roll ($10.30), and...
...filling out the corners with a soft, squidgy hotplate of Tofu Steak ($7.20) I order a dessert trio called Assorted Desserts 3 Kinds ($12.50) for good measure (ordering food is fun).
After a strawberry mochi, black sesame ice cream and a creamy green tea concoction, you’ll certainly be ready to rock!
