Review - Paddington Inn

Does My Bomb Look Big In This?

This week Alex Harmon found herself at a Paddington staple...

WEBPaddo

This recently renovated pub has revamped its menu whilst still retaining its Paddington demeanour. Think of it like The Princess and the Pea, except here the pea (the true test) is a Pinot Gris.

The Logan Weemala ($11/glass) passes with flying colours as we settle into a curved booth in the wall and nibble on silky Duck Cabbage Rolls ($14) with smooth baba ghanoush.

WEBPaddo_burger

But it’s not just dainty lady food, you can still get your pub staples like steaks, fish and chips, or the Beef Burger ($16) with crunchy pickles, oozing cheese and smoked chilli mayo. It’ll put (designer stubble) hairs on your chest.

WEBPaddo_kofta

Likewise, the Chicken Kofte ($14) ack a punch, and will attract the protein heads with a runny organic egg that you must mix with the spicy tomato-based sauce.

WEBPaddo_tort

I’d advise meeting in the middle with Pulled Pork Tortillas ($16) – a DIY share plate highlight with tasty condiments and crisp iceberg lettuce.

WEBPaddo_cocktail

The White Wine Sangria ($30/jug) with lashings of Japanese plum liqueur and dry white makes a great choice for settling in with friends; and on Saturdays (4-8pm) it will only set you back $15.

You may not meet your prince here, but no matter what your bloodline, the Paddo Inn will make you feel at home.
