This tasty looking plate of food represents a new direction in home delivery - and I photographed it exactly how it arrived. Creator David Chambers saw a need for “an intelligent late night food option,” so he's flying about town between the hours of 8pm and 2am delivering platters of gourmet produce into the wee hours of the morning!
Perhaps you're returning from the theatre, a club, working late or maybe some unexpected guests have arrived - these plates would be perfect! Plus they endeavour to deliver within thirty minutes of your order.
Whilst it was hard to choose between the five plates on offer (which include a vegetarian Falafel Plate ($28) and a Chocolate Plate ($25)), I eventually decided to try their Italian influenced Antipasto Plate ($30). The plate was made up of five cheeses and four different meats, as well as some olives, artichoke hearts and a cracker/toast selection (packaged separately). I liked the range of European cheeses, which included a lovely slab of Ambrosia and an interesting Scarmoza (smoked Mozarella), all at optimum ripeness. The pick of the meats was the Borgo Prosciutto, wrapped around some Israeli Pickles, but the Mortadella was also lovely. Only the Salami disappointed, but that was just because it was too mild for my taste.
And what's more - at the hours they deliver, I know it would be virtually impossible to go out and procure compatible produce yourself (especially at the same price). Their delivery areas range from the Eastern Suburbs (Rose Bay back to Kings Cross, and Bondi Junction) to the CBD, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and parts of the Inner West. As they are a new business, still establishing themselves, they are currently quite flexible - why not give them a try?
