"This was the first restaurant we have tried since moving to Leichhardt and we were not disappointed! The standout dish was BBQ'd mushrooms in a gorgonzola sauce which blew me away because of the interaction between the juice of the mushrooms and the sauce. We also enjoyed garlic prawns, a lovely rocket and parmesan salad, and a scallop pasta dish (which was perhaps the weakest of the things we tried). The woodfire pizza looked lovely, the service was friendly and attentive and I would happily return. I found the dining room very bright but that's a small price to pay for great food. Restaurant was busy for a week night which attests to the quality of the food. "
We also enjoyed eating at Charlie's new restaurant, Sapphire Suite:
"My partner and I recently dined at the newly opened Sapphire Suite restaurant, part of the Sapphire Suite Bar (though the bar enters from 2 Kellett Street Kings Cross, and the restaurant enters from 70 Darlinghurst Road). The fit-out is amazing particularly the four crystal chandeleirs which hover over the diners. We had a lovely meal - entrees of duck confit with lentils, cajun styled soft shell crab with yam chips and tomato salsa; followed by a simply gorgeous chicken breast on an innovative paw-paw and rocket salad and a huge rib-eye steak.
The menu included tapas, entrees, mains, pasta, pizza, salad and some pretty awesome looking desserts. It was an easy menu for all sorts of diners to find something to their taste with lots of diverse options, including a very interesting looking squid ink pasta dish. Wine was reasonably priced and there was a great range. The staff were pleasant and it was a nice place to dine - I felt sufficiently insulated from the main drag of Kings Cross in the cosy dining room but it also had the attraction of being able to watch the world go by. All in all, an excellent bistro style addition of modern Australian cuisine to the vibrant Kings Cross area and one I will be returning to again and again!"
