Does My Bomb Look Big In This?

Review - Salon Blanc

We were invited to review the newly opened Salon Blanc last Saturday, and we gleefully accepted the invitation! And not only were we treated like celebrities with a stunning selection of cocktails and tapas on the house, we also got to get photographed like celebrities from papparazzi photographer David G. Morgan who was at The Wharf stalking Delta Goodrem! I wanna be a WOK STAR!

Here is the review I just posted to Eatability:

"We spent a lazy Saturday afternoon at Salon Blanc soaking up the atmosphere and drinking our way through the rather excellent cocktail list. Look out for one based on Tequila and marinated pineapple, built over ice. It was a clear winner, though the lemon basil martini came a close second, and I was surprised by the some of the exotic ingredients in some of the others. There was one flavoured with limoncello, and I liked the Juniper Berry one too. The names escape me - probably because we tasted a vast proportion of the list!

For food we chose to dine Tapas style. (The restaurant is divided down the middle into a formal dining side, and a relaxed tapas side.) I did browse the lunch menu, and we will be returning to sample it soon. For lunch, wines seemed to be mostly between the $30-$70 mark, and the food was interesting and varied - a sure crowd pleaser!

As for the Tapas we ate - we loved the cured meat platter, which had two types of salami, an amazing air dried beef product and proschuitto that was succulent and tasty. It was served with bread and amazing value at only $14 for more than we could eat!

The chilli garlic prawns were superb, mainly because of the quality of the seafood and priced at $18. We also enjoyed chicken and ham croquettes with a garlic aoili, and an excellent garlic potato salad dish that contrasted with the platter of cured meats very well.

This is a prime place for people watching, comfortable to while away a few hours, and staffed with young, friendly, attentive staff who are able to make good recommendations. An excellent new addition to The Wharf, which I will be returning to soon. I urge you to check it out!"

Now if you have to have it all for yourselves, I suggest you call them on (02) 9356 2222 to make a booking, or check them out on the web: or even rock up in person to: 2/6 Cowper Wharf Road, Wooloomooloo 2011. Oh, and take me with you!
