Does My Bomb Look Big In This?

Hate Pubs, but Love Good Pub-Rock!

This afternoon, after a birthday lunch which unravelled with my Mother at Summer Salt in Elouera, we went to the Canterbury Hurlstone Park arse-l to see Martha Davis from The Motels, and Ian Moss from Cold Chisel. It was awesome. Great acoustics, great lighting, warm crowd that sang along: She wanna build me up, tear me down... Slap my knee-bones to the ground... Me and mine are gonna be around... When Tuckers' daughter's a memory...

Martha Davis was also awesome, but Ian blew her away... she sang Total Control (the reason I said yes I'm keen to the offered freebies) with a hot saxaphone solo from Wilbur Wylde (Hey Hey It's Saturday): And I'd sell my soul for total control... over you.

Yay for good ol' Australian Cock-Rock. I know it's odd... but while I don't like pubs, a bit of well done pub-rock gets me (The Cruel Sea... James Reyne ... Reckless (Don't be so...) and even the odd bit of Barnesy... but after this gig, let me tell you, the singing and writing and guitar playing talent in Cold Chisel all rested with Ian Moss!
