I returned (see my earlier visit HERE) to the Sofitel Wentworth's Garden Court for a rather auspicious occasion - a dinner celebrating The Best of French Dining by the acclaimed Albert Roux.
Whilst I didn’t envy the Sofitel kitchen brigade, plating with the man who opened Britain’s first Michelin-starred restaurant (Le Gavroche) looking over their shoulders, I am happy to report that they all performed admirably under pressure.
It was a particular delight to see all dishes at my table come out looking exactly the same, including the Artichoke Hearts Filled With Smoked Salmon and Poached Egg with Sauce Marie Rose you can see above.
The seasoning on every dish was also excellent.
My favourite dish was Albert’s Fillet of Barramundi with Jerusalem Artichoke Puree, Endive and Truffle Vinaigrette because it was an excellent use of an Aussie fish that all too often disappoints on the restaurant plate.
This is the Loin of Lamb Wrapped with Saffron Couscous, Chick Pea & Raisins.
Whilst it was impossible to photograph my dessert before I tasted it (it included Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream, okay?) here are the Petit Fours!
All in all, it was a great night, that showed how well this restaurant does at catering for large dinners, especially in comparison to some of the other dinners I have attended of late. So keep your eyes peeled for more dinners at the Sofitel Wentworth!
