Located on top of Westfield Bondi Junction, I am blown away by the view – I’ve never been much of a shopping mall diner until now. Sydney Harbour dazzles me as I check out the menu, which ranges from steaks to vegetarian bakes.
King Prawns ($20.99/4) are butterflied and honoured with a tinge of lemon and a crunchy head. Vegetarian Frittata ($14.95/2) are
overly cheesy but still good on taste. I like it when a ‘grill’ isn’t superficial about vegetable options, like overpriced garnishes.
The coveted Sirloin ($27.95/250g) was wet aged 30 days and very tender; but somehow the Lamb Ribs ($27.95/small) stole the limelight - even outshining the view. They were toe-curlingly good, with a smoky barbeque flavour that seemed to come from within. The only fault I made was ordering Onion Rings ($6.95/small) - they come as a side and really should be called ‘onion shreds’.
All was forgiven when I delved into Don Pedro ($16), their dessert cocktail of Kahlua and Johnny Walker Red. The winding walk back to the car was long enough to tally mine, and my dining partner’s votes: best ribs in state.
