This Week's Food News: Fever-Tree

After practically swearing off soft drinks this summer, I pretty much had to eat my words. Loading up on duty-free alcohol after spending some much needed down time on a Pacific island, I was delighted to discover the Fever-Tree range of mixers. My Hellyers Road Single Malt Whisky was neatly balanced by the simple Fever-Tree Dry Ginger Ale. My Plymouth Gin and tonic was perfected using Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water. In fact the whole Fever-Tree range manages to use premium ingredients to make a bunch of mixers that showcase whatever high-end spirits you decide to combine with them. They’re the first truly adult mixers I’ve tried, so it’s little wonder I’m seeing them popping up in smart cocktail bars all over Sydney too! I buy mine from Annandale Cellars...

Fever Tree tonic is spectacular, though pricey. It put me off Schweppes, but then the price put me off it, so now I just eliminate the middle man and drink straight martinis.

I do agree it's pricy, and I have always been a martini lady. However it really works with gin & the Hellyers Road (I know this is single malt sacrilege). It totally put me off Schweppes too.
