Today I popped in to have a chat with Virginia at The Opera House about a show she's hoping I will produce later in the year. Since I was there, I stopped off for a quick cocktail at Opera Bar. My cocktail of choice was the Dirty Carpet Disco and it involved Chambord, Absolute Vanilla and wild strawberry liqueur over ice and macerated red currants/raspberries. There may have also been some apple juice and some soda in there too. It was sweet, and drank like creaming soda, but I did like the red currants. The companion's cocktail was a Sweet Inferno which used Effen Vodka with chargrilled watermelon and basil, and was shaken with apple and pineapple juice. It was much more successful, and a perfect way to enter the afternoon.
Feeling a bit peckish, I also ordered a Prawn Chilli & Pomegranate Salad with Coriander & Mint and, upon promptly receiving it piled on a banana leaf, I felt a bit decadent, as this was a work day lunch. The prawns were tasty, and I liked the pomegranates scattered throughout the mound of crisp salad. Ahhh life's little joys...
